The St. Louis Blues confirmed horrible news today as top defenseman Torey Krug will miss the entire 2024-25 season.

It has been an eventful offseason for the St. Louis Blues. After signing franchise star Pavel Buchnevich to a six-year $48 million extension ($8 million annually), they made shockwaves through the league with offer sheets to Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway of the Edmonton Oilers.
These two major additions came at the cost of a second round pick (compensation for Philip Broberg's two-year $4.58 million annual deal), and a third round pick (compensation for Dylan Holloway's two-year $2.29 million annual deal). While they will bolster the roster, we now know the Blues have lost a key piece for the entire season in Torey Krug.
Blues president Doug Armstrong has made an official announcement:
St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that defenseman Torey Krug will undergo surgery to address pre-arthritic changes in his left ankle that will result in him missing the entire 2024-25 season.

The decision to undergo surgery was reached following an effort to rehabilitate the injury through non-surgical interventions.
We wish Torey Krug the best as he recovers this season. Hopefully this will not mark the end of his 700-game NHL career as an undersized offensive defenseman.
