Major layoffs appear to be on the horizon at Sportsnet after Jeff Marek's firing, and one insider has provided details into Ron MacLean's future with the network.

Rogers Sports and Media is the owner of Sportsnet, which is the largest Canadian sports network. Jeff Marek was recently fired by the network, and fans were very sad to learn they wouldn't get to see him on 32 Thoughts the Podcast anymore. There seems to be more changes coming, and Ron MacLean is likely involved in this.

Many hockey fans are praying that one of their beloved hockey broadcasters is not next in what could be another round of layoffs. Ron MacLean of Hockey Night in Canada has been on the TV sets of families for four decades, and fans are hoping he will remain, for the most part... There are a huge group of others who want him gone ASAP.

It appears that MacLean has quite a bit of haters around the country, as people are saying he is outdated. MacLean still has two years left on his deal with Rogers, so it is unlikely he is going anywhere at least until then, but who knows, at this point anything is possible.

Jeff Marek was one of the most beloved sports casters out there, and Sportsnet wasted no time in terminating him, so you just never know, perhaps Sportsnet takes a similar step and terminates one of the longest tenured personalities in MacLean.
