Mitch Marner to the Montreal Canadiens sounds like a nightmare for Maple Leafs fans, but one recent shock trade proposal suggests just that deal.
For months now, all of the talk in Toronto has been about shipping out Mitch Marner, but the team couldn't move him to Montreal... right? On the surface, there's no deal that Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving would realistically take from Montreal, but Bodog Casino has now suggested the idea on social media.
Could the Habs work a deal with Toronto to land Mitch Marner this offseason? 🤔
When delving further into the insane idea of a Marner to Montreal deal, it's quickly realized that beyond Demidov, Slafkovsky, Caufield, Suzuki and Reinbacher, there likely wouldn't be anyone in the organization that Toronto would covet, and the above names certainly won't be available. Unfortunately, this may be yet another example of a post simply for engagement on social media, because it's very unlikely as well that GM's Brad Treliving and Kent Hughes would do business on such a large scale.
Stranger things have certainly happened in the NHL, but if this were to happen, it would certainly be the most shocking trade in recent NHL memory, so don't hold your breath.
