A huge trade is materialising between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Rangers involving Mitch Marner and Jacob Trouba.

A trade between these two teams is starting to seem more likely as the days go by. The possible trade would see Marner sent to the New York Rangers in exchange for captain Jacob Trouba, and former first overall pick Alexis Lafreniere.
🚨 NHL Rumor Alert! 🚨 Could Marner head to the Rangers for Trouba & Lafrenière? 👇
It's no secret the Leafs are in desperate search of extra grit and leadership if they want to make deep runs in future playoffs, and that is exactrly what Trouba would bring to them. Not only is he a captain for a very good Rangers team, but he makes $2.8 million less than Marner. For those worried about a loss of offense should Marner be traded, Lafreniere would do a good job at filling in, as he had a career year last season, notching career highs in goals, assists and points, with 28, 29 and 57 respectively. Leafs fans would be happy to know that Lafreniere is now being compared to Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon.

The Rangers really want to add a star forward to their roster and the Leafs desperately need playoff experience and leadership to be able to get over the playoff hump. This trade would help both teams get exaxctly what they are looking for.
