The Pittsburgh Penguins are reportedly on the verge of trading 1000-game NHL veteran Lars Eller so that they can acquire another top-nine forward.

Several teams have reached out to the Pittsburgh Penguins regarding centerman Lars Eller. The Penguins are looking for another top-nine forward, but in order to bring in another player, they would need to likely ship Eller out.

Sounds like Penguins expect few teams to circle back on Lars Eller today. IF Penguins move Eller, it would be tied to another move, source says. Team in talks to add another Top-9 fwd

Eller has played in 1036 games in his career, picking up 178 goals and 224 assists. He had 15 goals and 16 assists for the Penguins in all 82 games he played with them last season. It's no secret the Penguins are looking for a nice return for Eller. One player that comes to mind is forward Ondrej Kase.

Multiple teams continue to show interest in Ondřej Kaše, who spent last season playing at home in Czechia.

Edmonton and Pittsburgh among those who have inquired.

Now that the madness of the July 1st free agent frenzy has started to calm down, perhaps teams such as the Penguins can turn their attention to blockbuster trades.
