Almost a decade after winning the Stanley Cup with the team, Teuvo Teräväinen is finally returning to the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Chicago Blackhawks have not been on top of their game in quite some time, but have been lucky in attaining solid draft picks. Though they have finished the regular season near the bottom of the league lately, they won their last Stanley Cup less than a decade ago.

"𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟓

For the 3rd time in 6 seasons, the Chicago Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup! 🏆

It was the first time they 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗖𝘂𝗽 at home since 𝟭𝟵𝟯𝟴."

Among the players on the ice that day was Teuvo Teräväinen, who has spent much of the last decade as a forward for the Carolina Hurricanes. However, after hitting free agency, he will finally make his return to his first NHL home in Chicago. He and the Blackhawks have agreed to a 3-year contract at $5.4 AAV.

"Turbo is back! The #Blackhawks have signed forward Teuvo Teräväinen to a three year deal for $5.4 million annually. Welcome home, Teuvo!"

Though this is a hefty paycheck for Chicago to dish out, a legacy player will always bring in a few more fans. Additionally, he had a decent showing this season with the Carolina Hurricanes, recording 25 goals and 53 points in 76 games.

With a lot more rebuilding ahead of them, it could still be some time before the Chicago Blackhawks take home another Stanley Cup. Yet, given a legacy lineup with Teuvo Teräväinen and future superstar Connor Bedard, it could be sooner than we think.
