Utah Hockey Club makes their first trade in franchise history

The NHL's newest project, the Utah Hockey Club, has made a big swing by trading picks 38, 71, and a 2025 2nd round pick (acquired from the New York Rangers) for the 24th overall pick from the Colorado Avalanche.

Gary Bettman came to the stage to announce that Ryan Smith's Utah Hockey Club has acquired the 24th overall pick from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for the 38th overall pick, 71st overall pick, and the 2025 New York Rangers' second round pick.

Utah trades up to grab the No. 24 pick from Colorado for Nos. 38 and 71, plus a 2025 second-rounder.

At pick 24 the Avs are trading it to Utah for 2 2nds and a 3rd

After taking big name forward Tij iginla with their inaugural pick as a franchise at sixth overall, the Utah Hockey Club has moved back into the first round of the 2024 NHL entry draft with this trade.

The Utah Hockey Club selects centre Cole Beaudoin from the Barrie Colts, who is one of the most physically mature players in the draft.
