Jean-Sebastien Giguere calls out Connor McDavid's disrespect after game 7 loss

Jean-Sebastien Giguere won the Conn Smythe in 2003, despite not winning the Stanley Cup. Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers did the same, but it was different.

When Jean-Sebastien Giguere won, as a member of the Anaheim Ducks in 2003, he came to collect the trophy, in respect of the voting committee and the NHL. Connor McDavid, on the other hand, stayed in the Edmonton Oilers' locker room after being ousted in game 7 by the Florida Panthers.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere has now commented on Connor McDavid's decision, and it is clear that he does not approve:

Translation: "It's a privilege to play in the NHL. Even if you're the best player in the world, you're not bigger than the sport."

It should be an obligation to show up and accept the trophy, it's a respect question.

It is similar to the hand shake.

The game gives us so much, we should give back, and showing respect to the trophy is part of it.

- Jean-Sebastien Giguere on Connor McDavid not accepting the Conn Smythe.

Connor McDavid may be the best player in the NHL, but he is not above the league as a whole. He deserved this Conn Smythe trophy, but he has gained no respect from it.

How much you wanna bet Giguere wanted to be anywhere else in the world at this moment rather than accepting this award? This is what class, character and sportsmanship is.

McDavid no-showed the Conn Smythe like a tantruming child, just like he no-showed game 6 & 7
