Today the Detroit Red Wings have been busy making a flurry of trades the latest trade sends Moritz Seider's defensive partner out of town.

The Detroit Red Wings are making moves ahead of the 2024 NHL Draft. First they decided to trade defenseman prospect Andrew Gibson for Jesse Kiiskinen and a 2024 2nd round pick.

UPDATE: The #RedWings today acquired a 2nd round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft (originally Tampa's) and forward Jesse Kiiskinen from the Nashville Predators in exchange for Andrew Gibson.

Now the Red Wings have decided to flip that second-round selection along with Moritz Seider's defensive partner Jake Walman to the San Jose Sharks in a salary dump.

TRADE

#SJSharks acquire defenseman Jake Walman and a second-round selection in the 2024 NHL Draft from the Red Wings.

Jake Walman burst onto the scene last season with his high-end skating and potential for offense. However, he failed to take that next step in 2023-24 and now has been moved to the San Jose Sharks for a fresh start.

The Detroit Red Wings still land Jesse Kiiskinen out of their deal with the Nashville Predators but their poor business dealings in signing Jake Walman lose them a high-value asset.
