The Los Angeles Kings have terminated the contract of a young player on Wednesday afternoon.

With all eyes set on the game 4 of the Western Conference Finals set for tonight, other news have flown under the radar, such as this one.

The Los Angeles Kings have announced that they've placed Kim Nousiainen on unconditional waivers, with the intention of terminating his contract.

Per CapFriendly:

"#GoKingsGo have placed Kim Nousiainen on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination."

"The #Kings 🇺🇸 have placed defenseman Kim Nousianinen (@kimnous) 🇫🇮 on unconditional waivers for the purpose of a mutual contract termination.

Nousianinen, 23, had zero goals, nine points through 52 games played with the Ontario Reign (AHL) 🇺🇸 this season.

He was drafted 119th overall by Los Angeles in 2019."

Nousiainen, a 23 year-old defenseman, was drafted in the fourth round of the 2019 NHL draft by the Kings. Since then, he spent three seasons in the SM-liiga, and three more in the AHL, for the Ontario Reign.

In 2023-24, the Finnish player took part in 52 games and scored nine points, only assists. He also tallied two assists in eight playoff games.

His fate will be known in 24 hours, but it's only a formality that he'll clear waivers and his contract will be terminated.
