Massive updates came from the front office of the NHL's newest franchise, in Salt Lake City, Utah today. 20 team names have been released to the public from owner Ryan Smith.

This announcement, which was put on social media as a survey to fans to choose from one of 20 names, including the Utah Hive, and Utah Outlaws, is the first official look we have seen about the team's future.

It has also been announced that, for the 2024-25 NHL season, NHL Utah will simply play with 'Utah' on their jerseys.

For the inaugural season, the new team in Salt Lake City will only wear "UTAH" across its sweater.

Here are the 20 potential nicknames under consideration for the future via a fan vote.

It is clear that owner Ryan Smith is trying to get things exactly right with his brand choice, as hopefully the NHL will be in Utah for a very long time.

«The first round was issued today and will be open for voting until May 22. Fans are encouraged to select up to four preferred names from the list of 20 options, which was compiled following the initial survey issued on social media.»

It is an exciting time to be a hockey fan!
