William Nylander suffered a head injury at the end of the regular season, and history suggests it may lead to the end of his career in the NHL.

Head injuries are the scariest ones that can be suffered in the NHL and in professional sports. Many NHLers have suffered life-altering consequences due to concussions and CTE, and this has led many to premature retirement.

While he has eight years of contract and $92-million ahead of him, if William Nylander, who is suffering from chronic debilitating migraines mysteriously, cannot recover, he may follow the mould of former second overall pick Nolan Patrick and call it a career early.

So it seems that William Nylander's absence is from severe migraines according to EF

While there is no guarantee William Nylander recovers, especially due to the mysterious nature of his injury, it is most likely he will return. He will need to protect his head, however, as it is scary to imagine he may face life-changing consequences.
