There's no question Mika Zibanejad had gotten off to a slow start in 2020-21. After back-to-back seasons where he put up 70+ points, Zibanejad had slowed down a lot at the first of this year, recording 11 points in his first 27 games. Not awful, but not the kind of production he or the New York Rangers were hoping for. It had been noticed by fans and analysts alike, with some pouring on the criticism. Then, Thursday night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers happened.

Zibanejad exploded in the second period of the game, putting up three goals and three assists, matching a record set by Bryan Trottier in 1978. His fiance, Irma Helin, must have heard the previous criticism because she put out a Tweet aimed directly at her future husband's critics. It came when Zibanejad scored his fifth point of the game, reaching 400 career points in total.

By the way, Helin is a great athlete in her own right, having an excellent career in Sweden as a footballer. She played 11 seasons in total, won a championship and also represented her home country on its national team. She retired in January of last year and immediately signed a contract to be a TV analyst.

Zibanejad's performance in the Rangers' 9-0 win over Philadelphia is certainly one he won't forget for a long time and it's good to see him and his fiance silence the critics, at least for a little while.
