Could Pekka Rinne's NHL career be coming to an end? According to Finnish news outlet Iltalehti, Liiga club Karpat are pursuing the 15-year NHL veteran.

Rinne spent five years within Karpat's youth system, and men's team prior to heading to North America for the 2005-06 NHL season. In total, Rinne made 25 starts for Karpat's men's team from 2002-2005.

There were rumblings a few weeks ago that the Nashville Predators were going to go through a rebuild, and possibly blow things up at April 12's trade deadline. One of the name's not dubbed "untouchable" was Rinne, and despite the fact there could be a number of teams interested in his services, he wants to remain a Predator. Rinne has a modified no-trade clause, as well as a no-movement clause. He also has a ten-team trade list.

"I believe in this team,» Rinne told The Athletic. «I do want to retire as a Predator."

"For sure, I want to have success,» Rinne said. «I've been fortunate that we've been, for most of my career, doing pretty well. For the (most) part, we've never been sellers at the deadline. Obviously, I don't want to go through that. This is the team I want to retire (with)."

The Kempele, Finland native is in the final year of a two-year extension he signed with Nashville in 2018. In 20 games this season, Rinne has a record of 8-11-1, a 3.09 G.A.A., an .899 save percentage and 1 shutout.
