With the team in the midst of a 12 game losing streak, the Buffalo Sabres have announced that head coach Ralph Krueger has been relieved of his duties.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Buffalo GM Kevyn Adams will meeting with media today and will announce that assistant coach Don Granato will take over the head coach position on an interim basis for now.

With the team slated to miss the playoffs for the tenth straight season, many are likely wondering why it took this long to fire Krueger. His dismissal comes after a 3-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils, who were on their own 11 game at-home losing streak.
