Buffalo Sabres captain Jack Eichel has not played with his team since Sunday's 5-2 loss to the New York Islanders, and the Sabres will have to wait longer before he returns. The Sabres aren't saying exactly what's wrong with the 24-year-old or how long he'll be out, but we do know he left his team's bubble to seek a second opinion on the injury, which means he must quarantine before rejoining his teammates.

"See where the day takes us, but we should have more on Jack Eichel tonight in Insider Trading," said TSN's Darren Dreger. "Eichel is on his was back to Buffalo after seeing a specialist for a second opinion. Awaiting word on diagnosis/prognosis. His 7 day quarantine begins today."

There is some speculation that Eichel's injury may be neck-related after he appeared to be in some discomfort following this minor looking play on Sunday. The Sabres will only say it's an upper-body injury.

With Buffalo requiring a miracle to even have a shot at the playoffs this season, many fans are calling on the team to keep Eichel out of the lineup for as long as he needs to get back to 100 percent, even if it means shutting him down for the season. It's a nice thought, but unlikely to happen. Players want to play as soon as they are given the clearance.
