The Fort Francis Lakers of the Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL) made the decision on Tuesday to fire head coach Bernie Lynch after learning of inappropriate texts and emails he was allegedly sending to a player.

These accusations involving Lynch surfaced last week, and the team quickly had an internal investigation. The player who was receiving the messages was afraid to speak up originally as he feared what it may do to his hockey career.

"He would get mad if I didn't text him back right away,» the unidentified player said. «He would get mad even after games – like, we'd end at nine or 10 and I'd want to go hang out with my teammates."

"He'd always be like, 'Why don't you just come hang out with me?' Like, 'We'll have fun and watch a movie,'" he said. "Kind of weird."

There were plenty more messages from the coach as well that can be found in the article linked below. Lynch has been told that he is no longer allowed to have any type of contact with any of his former players.
