After serving in the Russian Military and playing in the KHL against the rules, Ilya Fedotov is set to make his NHL debut with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Ilya Fedotov has had one of the more unique routes to the NHL than any other player in recent memory. After being forced to stay in Russia due to serving in the military, Fedotov played in the KHL instead of reporting to the Philadelphia Flyers who owned his rights. There was a dispute that determined that Fedotov had to return to the Flyers, however, he remained in the KHL under protest, subsequently being banned from international play.

Now, there appears to have been a breakthrough in these rules, and Fedotov will be making his debut for the Philadelphia Flyers sooner than expected, as he joined the team for practice today.

Ivan Fedotov has officially joined the #flyers and will meet the media alongside GM Danny Briere at the team's practice facility this morning.

Fedotov has put up pretty great numbers in the KHL this season with a 2.37 goals against average and a .914 save percentage. The Flyers had previously been linked to looking at another Russian goaltender.

For Flyers fans, they can be glad this saga is over and that they can finally see Fedotov play.
