In tonight's game between the Washington Capitals and Toronto Maple Leafs, Alex Ovechkin rocked Jake McCabe with a massive on-ice hit.

Alex Ovechkin is undoubtedly one of the greatest goal-scorers in the history of the NHL, with less than 50 to go before tying Wayne Gretzky's record. Yet, while this aspect of his game was lacking earlier this season, Ovi has made a huge comeback as a brutal player on the ice after taking down Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe with an absolutely massive hit.

McCabe was seen trying to get the puck away from the Capitals during the first period when Ovechkin stopped all his momentum with a shoulder to the face, forcing him down on the ice. With a long history of strong playing, fans are using this as more proof of this players legacy of toughness.

"Ovechkin will likely go down in history as the most prolific goal scorer of all time, but he is unquestionably the toughest prolific goal scorer of all time

#ALLCAPS"

The Capitals are currently down 1-3 at the end of the second period. With the team currently holding the lost place spot for the playoffs, hopefully this team can call on Ovi's strength to give them a better chance at success.
