It appears one of John Tortorella's former players is not a big fan. Former NHLer Brandon Dubinsky has posted a message on his X account for Tortorella, blasting him for his recent treatment of Philadelphia Flyers captain Sean Couturier.

With the Flyers taking on the Toronto Maple Leafs last night, Couturier, who was named captain of the team just over a month ago, sat on the sidelines as a healthy scratch. He wasn't that happy about it either.

"It's tough. I feel like I've been putting the work in for a while and I've been struggling, trying to work on my game. Definitely frustrated with the way I've been treated [lately], I guess, but it is what it is."

Dubinsky played under Tortorella for several seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was also stripped of the "A" on his sweater by Torts before the coach was eventually dropped by Columbus. It seems there may be some ill will towards Tortorella from Dubinsky, as he blasted him for scratching Couturier.

"Torts..your tactics are getting old..instead of scratching and embarrassing your capt and one of your best players how about try and tell him I'm giving you 20 mins tmrw night no matter what with PP & PK and go play free have fun and f-----g get it done? @NHLFlyers #freecouturier"

Dubinsky hasn't played in the NHL since the 2018-19 season, with injuries forcing the end to his pro career. His "A' that was taken y Tortorella was given to defenceman Jack Johnson at the time. Tortorella was asked last night about the decision to scratch Couturier, but refused to get into specifics.

"As I told you, I'm putting the players out on the ice to win a particular game, and these are the 20 we decided to go with.

I'm not talking about Sean, I'm not debating with you, I'm not conversing with you. That's between Sean and I"

Couturier was named the 20th captain in Flyers history on Feb. 14 of this year. That was after missing all of the previous season due to back surgery and the recovery process that it required. He has 11 goals and 36 points in 64 games in 2023-24. Before being made a healthy scratch, Couturier had seen his ice time diminish significantly over the past 10 games. By the way, the Flyers beat the Maple Leafs 4-3 with Couturier on the sidelines.
