Sad new just emerged. The former NHLer Chris Simon tragically passed away at only 52 years old.

In breaking news, it was announced that Chris Simon, who played 783 NHL games between 1993 and 2008 passed away earlier today.

Per Puck Empire:

"I regret to inform you that NHL alumnus Chris Simon has passed away at the age of 52.

Simon played 782 games in the NHL from 1993-2008 with Quebec, Colorado, Washington, Chicago, New York (R), New York (I), Calgary, and Minnesota, registering 144 goals and 305 points in that span.

He was a one-time Stanley Cup Champion (1996)."
