The Chicago Blackhawks have officially been charged over 3 million dollars for their termination of Corey Perry earlier this season.

Blackhawks Charged Over 3 Million Dollars For Terminating Corey Perry

The Chicago Blackhawks have officially been given a harsh punishment for their handling of the Corey Perry termination earlier this year. While still there have been few details revealed about the reason for his termination, Perry has returned to the NHL, and now it has been determined that the Blackhawks will have to pay 3 million dollars for their decision.

Our understanding of Perry termination/grievance resolution is #Blackhawks were assessed $1.99M Cap Charge for period after termination.

On top of the $1.02M cap charge while with team, CHI total cap charge will be $3.01M of Perry's original $4M contract

While it is impossible to know exactly what happened and why the Blackhawks decided that termination was the right way to handle whatever did happen, the grievance clearly had some merit as Perry will receive nearly 75% of his total contract value.

We will see if more details are revealed, however, this is likely the last that the Perry saga is brought up.
