The NHL appear intent on expansion once more following the success of the Vegas Golden Knights and Seattle Kraken, and one prospective city has now got a major boost.

Anson Carter to head a group wishing to bring the NHL to Atlanta

While the NHL has failed in Atlanta not once, but twice, they are a city right on track to get a team once more, and now a new report has detailed the group looking to bring the NHL back to Atlanta.

We have a new entrant revealing its desire for NHL expansion. Broadcaster Anson Carter, who scored 202 goals in 674 NHL games, unveils Alpharetta Sports & Entertainment Group — wishing to bring a team back to Atlanta. Details here:

According to the report, Anson Carter, who played 674 games in the NHL, most famously with Boston, Vancouver and Edmonton is at the head of this new group known as Alpharetta Sports & Entertainment Group.

There's been many reports about the NHL's next move, and right now it appears as though their next move will be to Salt Lake City in conjunction with Ryan Smith, the owner of the Utah Jazz, but beyond that, Atlanta appears to be an inevitability.

While the city has lost two NHL teams, ownership played a major role in that, and if the city can get the new arena that has been rumoured and a good, steady ownership group, hockey may finally thrive in the south like it has for several other teams.
