The Minnesota Wild may have just pulled off the gutsiest move in the 2023-24 NHL season during their game versus the Nashville Predators in overtime!

Minnesota Wild pull the goalie in overtime

No, it wasn't a delayed penalty that caused the Wild to pull their netminder in overtime, it was just pure confidence by head coach John Hynes. During overtime, the Wild pulled their goalie giving them a man advantage which was a 4-3 in the last minute of overtime, it led to a goal scored by Matt Boldy. Very gutsy as we have never seen a team try that out, perhaps the Wild may have just started a trend.

The reason a play like this is so gutsy because according to the NHL rulebook, shall a team pull their goalie in overtime and end up conceding, they shall lose the loser point, meaning that the Wild risked their guaranteed point to go all in for the win!
NHL rules stipulate that a team that pulls the goalie for an extra attacker and winds up losing on an empty-net goal forfeits the point they get for simply getting to overtime.

Insane play!
