The Chicago Blackhawks were officially eliminated from the NHL playoff race recently. However, the team is still making moves, having just signed a new standout member from the NCAA.

Chicago Signs Newbie To Play With Bedard

While Chicago is no longer in the race for the Stanley Cup this season, they are clearly aiming to build a lineup of standout rookies with high potential. After acquiring the highly sought-after Connor Bedard, the team officially announced the acquisition of a potential partner in crime in Landon Slaggert.

Landon Slaggert Gets Near $1 Million Deal

Now that time has passed since being a third-round pick in 2020, Slaggert had just come off his best season in the NCAA playing with Notre Dame, having a total of 31 points. His contract is a 2-year deal with a cap of a little over $900k.

"The #Blackhawks have signed 2020 3rd round pick Landon Slaggert to a 2-year deal with a $912,500 AAV cap hit through 2024-25

Slaggert is coming off on his career-best season at Notre Dame where he served as the team Captain and posted 20 goals and 31 points in his Senior season"

While it remains to be seen how soon this player will join the lineup, it will certainly be fascinating to watch Chicago continue to foster burgeoning young players into future NHL legends.
