Ducks place Adam Henrique on waivers

A shocking name was added to the waiver wire on Saturday. According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Anaheim Ducks have placed veteran forward Adam Henrique on waivers.

In 16 games with the Ducks this season, Henrique has tallied 4 points (3 G, 1 A), 4 penalty minutes, and is a -8.

The Brantford, Ontario native is in the second-year of a five-year contract where he is making $5.825 million per season, and has a modified no-trade clause.

Henrique, 31, was drafted in the third round, 82nd overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He's spent parts of 12 seasons in the NHL with New Jersey and Anaheim. In 681 regular season games, he's recorded 382 points (189 G, 193 A), 208 penalty minutes, and is a -11. In 27 career playoff games, Henrique has 13 points (5 G, 8 A), 11 penalty minutes, and is a +10.

The slow start to the season for Henrique is the most likely reason Anaheim has placed him on waivers. With three and a half years left on his contract at $5.825 AAV, it's a safe bet that no team with make a waiver claim.
