San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson will miss time yet again due to injury. Karlsson has already been ruled out for Monday's game versus the Ducks, and it seems likely that he will miss more than just the one game.

The Swedish defender came into this season saying that he was healthy for the first time in a long time, but it took just 13 games for him to catch the injury bug again. He suffered a lower-body injury during Saturday's loss versus the Vegas Golden Knights. Along with this, Karlsson's struggles in San Jose have continued this season so far as he has just 4 assists in 13 games.

Although Sharks head coach Bob Boughner downplayed the seriousness of the injury, it is enough to keep Karlsson out for at least a game, which is a great cause of concern for a San Jose Sharks team that is struggling to have any bite this season.

Karlsson has had injury troubles ever since arriving in San Jose, appearing in just 122 games in his 3rd season with the team. Hairline fractures in his heel, a broken thumb, and a groin problem are just a couple of injuries the 30-year-old has faced over the past couple of seasons. The Sharks still hope Karlsson can regain form, but that $11.5 million AAV sure looks painful to many Sharks fans today.
