With the Montreal Canadiens not playing again until February 20th, the club has decided to assign forward Michael Frolik to the Laval Rocket on a conditioning stint. The Kladno, Czech Republic native hasn't appeared in any games with Montreal this season, and has been on the team's taxi squad.

This means Frolik will make his season debut with Laval on Tuesday against the Belleville Senators, and will likely face them again on Friday.

The Canadiens plan to re-call Frolik on Saturday and place him on the taxi squad, prior to their game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Frolik, 32, signed a one-year contract worth $750,000 with Montreal on December 23rd. He spent the 2019-20 season with the Calgary Flames, and Buffalo Sabres. In 57 games, he tallied 14 points (6 G, 8 A), 28 penalty minutes, and was a -12.
