Notch another huge accomplishment for Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins. With Crosby's goal and assist in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Washington Capitals, he is now the all-time regular season points leader for NHL players born in Nova Scotia. Crosby, born and raised in Cole Harbour, now has one more regular season point than legend Al MacInnis of Inverness.

Crosby's 1275 regular season points are certainly impressive. Perhaps even more impressive is the fact that it took him 419 fewer games than MacInnis to beat his all-time points record for a Bluenoser, although it should be noted that MacInnis was a defenceman and his point totals are certainly eye-opening. Third on the list is Bobby Smith of North Sydney, while everyone's favourite pest Brad Marchand of Halifax is currently in fourth with 664. Rounding out the top five is Glen Murray, who was born in Halifax but raised in Bridgewater.

Already sixth on the list is Colorado's Nathan MacKinnon, who certainly has a shot of moving way up before his career is over, barring any unforeseen circumstances of course. MacKinnon is just 142 points behind Murray but has played around half the amount of games.

For a small province (population of around 970,000), Nova Scotia has certainly produced its fair share of notable NHL names. Among active players, Alex Killorn, born in Halifax, is currently 11th on the list. At 31, he should be able to move up a couple more places before he's done. That said, Crosby has become synonymous with hockey in Nova Scotia and the future Hall-of-Famer will hold on to that top spot for a long time yet, while he continues to build on his lead.
