With the recent news coming out of Vancouver that ownership plans to keep both Jim Benning and Travis Green with the club, despite a very mediocre start to the 2020-21 season, not every team shares a similar outlook on standing pat during a challenging hockey season.

According to Avs writer Adrian Dater, he has heard rumblings of a potential coaching change on the way in Nashville, as head coach John Hynes has struggled to get his team going through the first 15 games, owning a dismal 6-9-0 record.

Dater claims that his sources have suggested that Hynes is "in some real trouble" in Nashville and is "definitely on the hot seat".

Hynes has barely been in Nashville a year, having signed on to coach the Preds in January of 2020, just a couple of months before the pause in play due to COVID-19. His start with the club was mostly forgettable, with the Preds being bounced in the qualifying round of the 2019-20 playoffs by the Arizona Coyotes.

Hynes has had a rough go as an NHL head coach, having qualified for the playoffs just once in his 5 seasons as a bench boss, in 2017-18, on the heels of a Taylor Hall Hart Trophy campaign.

Should the Preds elect to make a coaching change for the second time in as many seasons, there are a few noteworthy names still available, including Bruce Boudreau and Gerard Gallant.

With a busy schedule coming up this week, with four games on the docket for the Preds, this should be a very important stretch for Hynes. His club playing sub-.500 hockey over that stretch will almost certainly be the final nail in his coffin.
