Former NHLer Jaromir Jagr is widely considered one of the best hockey players of all time and is well-deserving of having his jersey retired. However, he took everyone by surprise after making a hilarious comment at this ceremony in Pittsburgh.

Jagr Makes Hilarious Comment Before Jersey Retirement

Tonight, former Penguins player Jaromir Jagr had the great honor to celebrate the retirement of his jersey in Pittsburgh. Yet, when he had a chance to speak ahead of this ceremony, he took the opportunity to make a hilarious remark, that was then shared in a post on X.
"Jagr: 'I want to say thanks to my girlfriend. She's too young to remember when I played in Pittsburgh.'"

This pokes fun at not only his record with the Penguins, which he clearly has some issue with but also at the age gap between this now 52-year-old businessman and the 29-year-old former model and his girlfriend, Dominika Branisova, who would have been about 5 when Jagr left Pittsburgh.

Jaromir Honored In Special Way During Jersey Retirement

Aside from getting a chance to tell jokes about his romantic life, Jagr was also honored in a special yet uniquely appropriate way. When he goes out onto the ice, he is joined by the current Pittsburgh Penguins who are all wearing the legend's signature mullet.

"Now that's a lot of mullets.
Jaromir Jagr took warmups with the @penguins tonight! 🐧"
This is not only an honor to this former NHLer as a distinguished character, but also a testament to his clear and prevailing sense of humor. This was a great show for fans before letting Jagr do one last lap to salute all the fans.
"After the Penguins take a team photo with Jaromir Jagr, he does one last lap, saluting the fans here in Pittsburgh 💛🖤"
With the second-highest points record and the honor of being the oldest player in the NHL to score a hat trick, this seems like a fitting payment of respects for Jaromir Jagr.
