Blake Wheeler went down hard recently and is now sidelined for the season. Jacob Trouba got candid on Wheeler's injury revealing some concerning news.

Wheeler Officially Out For The Season

Blake Wheeler took an awkward tumble versus the Montreal Canadiens and couldn't get up on his own power. Now he has been confirmed to be out for the rest of the season.

Blake Wheeler is being placed on LTIR by the #NYR with a lower-body injury and won't return at all during the regular season. Even getting back for the playoffs is unlikely but will depend on his recovery and how far the team progresses.

Wheeler could potentially return in the playoffs but it would require both him recovering faster than expected and for the Rangers to go deep.

Trouba Shares A Concerning Comment

New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba has known Wheeler for a long time as Wheeler used to captain Trouba when he was a member of the Winnipeg Jets. After the injury, Trouba shared some concerning news.

Raw answer from Jacob Trouba on Blake Wheeler's injury. He stressed how much he's meant to him since their days in WPG.

«I'm not saying this is true, but maybe he played his last hockey game. It's emotional. It's something you think about. You don't take things for granted.»

Hopefully, this is not Wheeler's last game but in the sport of hockey, any game can be your last game. The Rangers will now look to find a replacement for Wheeler but as it stands, they will be heavily depleted for the playoffs.
