Toronto Defenseman's Tragic News Announced
Earlier today, the Maple Leafs shared in a post on X that one of their defensemen, Mark Giordano, lost his father Paul. No details regarding the cause of this have been released.
"The Toronto Maple Leafs are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Paul Giordano, father of Mark Giordano, on Thursday night. Our prayers are with Mark and his family during this incredibly difficult time and we ask for their privacy."
Many fans and teams have publicly expressed their condolences to the player and his family, including the Calgary Flames.
"Our deepest condolences go out to Mark and the entire Giordano family ❤️ Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this incredibly difficult time."
Some people, alternatively, have taken the opportunity to make insensitive comments. These are thankfully being attacked, as this sort of treatment is never excusable.
