The Coyotes have struggled in many different ways since moving to Arizona, and with nothing set in stone for an arena and struggling attendance, things may be changing very soon.

NHL Insider drops a bombshell on the future of the Coyotes

While expansion has been rumoured, there's many steps to get there before that, and according to Elliotte Friedman, one of those steps could be taken very soon by the league.

Looks like it's finally over for the #Yotes in Arizona. Salt Lake City, get ready.

«I think that we are coming to the end of the line with this ownership group, I believe there isn't something hard and fast in place in the very near future. They will begin the process of selling the team or the NHL taking over the team and selling it to someone else, I believe we will get there. I believe one of the reasons you hear the commissioner say nothing negative about them is he knows this could end up in a big legal fight and he doesn't want to say or do anything that will end being used against him»

According to Friedman's report, the process of the Coyotes ownership group either selling the team or having it taken over by the NHL is fast approaching, which could signal a seismic shift in the landscape of the league.

Nothing is imminent however, as this process may take time, especially with Friedman noting this could all end in a huge legal battle, but for now, it appears as though things could be changing in a hurry for the Arizona Coyotes and their entire future.
