The Edmonton Oilers have been as hot as any team in the NHL as of late, and with goals of making a Stanley Cup push in 2024, they're reportedly looking at many trade options.

Could the Oilers land a current NHL captain?

In recent weeks, we've seen them linked to the likes of Jordan Eberle and Jake Guentzel, and now, The Hockey Writers have revealed speculation that links them to current Columbus Blue Jackets captain Boone Jenner.

Given their limited assets, it makes sense that the Oilers are looking to land top line, elite talent, but if they can land Jenner, he would be an incredible addition to this loaded forward group.

In 35 games this season, Jenner has tallied 13 goals and 18 points, all while playing for a Blue Jackets team without much talent around him, but pairing him with the likes of Kane, McDavid or Draisaitl could take his game to the next level.

Where else do the Oilers need to improve?

After adding Corey Perry, many assumed that they would begin to look at blue line help and the potential addition of a top line backup goaltender, but it appears they aren't satisfied with their forward group.

The recent 16 game winning streak from Edmonton shows they've now got the talent to match up with any team in the NHL, but if they want that edge to take them over the top, adding players like Jenner along with other pieces is a necessity.
