Injuries, though a part of any major sport, are never fun, and could cost not just the player, but the entire team from playing to their best potential. This was the case with Connor Bedard of the Chicago Blackhawks who had to be placed on reserve while recovering from a fractured jaw, forcing him to sit out of the recent All-Star games. However, it seems this rookie center may be set to return to the ice sooner than later.

Bedard Gives An Unexpected Update On His Health

During the festivities of the All-Star games this weekend, Bedard provided a surprising update on his health. Though previously thought to take him off the ice for 8 weeks, this first-overall draft pick may be returning sooner than later.

"Connor Bedard chats with the @Rogers #NHLAllStar panel about being part of the Skills, his return, and more! 🏒"

Though still in recovery after recent jaw surgery, Bedard expressed his eagerness to get back in the game, going so far as to suggest he would have already done so if he had the choice.

"Connor Bedard, who had jaw surgery on Jan. 8: 'I feel good and I feel ready. If it were up to me, I would've been back. But of course, I've got to make sure it's healed and make sure you're not risking anything out there.' #Blackhawks"

Blackhawks Struggles Worsen Without Bedard In The Lineup

The Blackhawks have struggled throughout the season, but without Bedard, they have dropped back down to the worst team in the league. Their record without him currently stands at 3-8-0, with 2 of those wins being in overtime or shootouts. One of these wins was against the 31st-place team the San Jose Sharks.

Hopefully, the Blackhawks will improve when Bedard is back in the lineup. However, this still may not be beneficial to the long-term success of the team with the draft coming right around the corner.
