Despite the criticism and controversy, the Edmonton Oilers have officially inked forward Corey Perry to a one-year deal, and on the first day of that deal, he's finally addressed the media.

There's been no official details given on what led to Perry's termination in Chicago, but given this and his history on and off the ice, many questioned the Oilers decision to sign him.
Now, in his first press conference since joining Edmonton, Perry has spoken out, addressing some of what has happened this season.
perry: "over the last two months, i've really had a chance to reflect and get the help and take full responsibility for what happened in chicago, and try to better myself. those are the things i've been working on. i've been working in people in the mental health field, and in different fields. it's been a long time to get back to this spot, to be back on the ice with players, and the nhl. i have to thank my family, my friends, all the support i've gotten. the support from my councillors, just trying to better myself each and every day.

from where i was two months ago, to where i am today, i think it's been a world of difference the help i've gotten and where i've come from."
It sounds as though Perry is doing much better away from the ice since that took place, but given the controversial circumstances, it's safe to say that fans of opposing teams will no doubt use this as fuel to criticize the Oilers further.
