BREAKING: Canucks Announce Major Extension

Several reports are confirming the finalization of a major contract extension for the Vancouver Canucks.

This afternoon the Vancouver Canucks have announced a contract extension for a key member of the organization. General Manager Jim Rutherford is getting a three year extension according to sources.

The Canucks have been one of the best teams in the NHL this season. Rutherford has been the architect behind the Canucks rebuild over the last several years. After a slower rebuild than some thought Rutherford and the Canucks are in contention earning him an extension.

This extension gives the Canucks some stability going forward. Next will need to be the extension of superstar forward Elias Pettersson. With Rutherford in place these talks might be able to happen sooner rather than later.
