The Toronto Maple Leafs have a promising team once again in 2023-24, but without a steady force in net, there may be a limit on just how far this team can go.

Paul Bissonette makes a wild statement

One of their biggest problems is goaltending, with none of Joseph Woll, Ilya Samsonov or Martin Jones standing out as a true No. 1, but according to Biz, the answer for the future may be within the organization already.
"And this Dennis Hildeby, he might be the next Vasilevskiy, that's what I'm hearing. I'm hearing Vezina aspirations."

He may have said so in a sarcastic way, given that Maple Leafs fans often overrate their future prospects whether it be as players for the team or assets in trades, but now, Dennis Hildeby may have some major expectations on his shoulders.

Toronto Stanley Cup bound in 2023-24?

While he made the above comment jokingly, he got more serious about Toronto and their chances in 2023-24, and unsurprisingly, he believes this can be their year when they get rolling.
"I've said this all along. It's just a matter of time before one of these goalies we've never heard of in the organization that comes from the depths of the minors, and comes and saves us. So, I'm not worried one bit. This happens every year. We stumble a little bit out of the gate, everybody freaks out, and then midway through the season, before All-Star, or around the Holidays. Yup, another hiccup, who gives a f--k. They're gonna make playoffs, everything's gonna work itself out, it's our year."
This may have all been in a joking matter, but one thing is for certain, if the 22-year old Hildeby can make the NHL on the back of his impressive AHL form, he may have the chance to make this statement an even funnier one looking back on it one day.
