The trade is now around 48 hours old, but we're finally getting the story straight from the horse's mouth this time. Cutter Gauthier, traded Monday from the Philadelphia Flyers to the Anaheim Ducks, sat down with a Ducks' podcast today and personally addressed the rumours and speculation regarding his exchange.

Gauthier Finally Speaks About his Controversial Trade to Anaheim

Hailed as one of the Philadelphia Flyers' top prospects, it came out shortly after the trade that Gauthier himself had forced the hand of GM Danny Briere by telling him he was no longer interested in playing for the team, and would not meet with any members of the Flyers' executive. There was also a report that former Flyer Kevin Hayes played a big role in Gauthier's decision, something Hayes flatly denied. Gauthier was asked about all the gossip in the interview, and was given the floor to say whatever he wanted about it.

"Yeah, it's kind of tough to talk about. I'd like to announce that it's a personal matter between myself, my family, and my agent. I did see one thing going around in the internet that I would like to specifically address about the rumours about Kevin Hayes. I would like to officially say that he had zero, zero conflict with anything that had to do with the trade. Seeing all that stuff, it's pretty ruthless what people are saying and that, but Kevin Hayes had nothing to do with the situation at hand."

Gauthier Finally Comes Forward to Address Trade Specuation and Rumours

Gauthier went on to say he "can't talk too much about it," and would prefer to keep it between himself, his family, and his agent, which seems to have become the main talking point from his camp. It was a statement very similar to the one that his agent made earlier today.
Gauthier added that he has met with Ducks GM Pat Verbeek, and was very excited about making the move to Anaheim. He insisted he fully intends to leave Boston College after this season and make the jump to the pros.
