On Monday, the Anaheim Ducks made the shocking move to acquire Cutter Gauthier from the Philadelphia Flyers, and it may have sparked a re-tool in their future young core.

Another key young star on the move in Anaheim?

The move itself may have been a shock, but the Ducks blue line core has improved in recent years, and given the injuries to Jamie Drysdale, acquiring Gauthier was a fantastic move for depth within the organization.
Now, the team find themselves with a young forward core of Troy Terry, Gauthier, Mason McTavish, Trevor Zegras and Leo Carlsson, and while that depth is great, it appears as though the team may be looking to move on from a shock name.

Zegras reportedly available and in play

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, Trevor Zegras, who was once seen as the future of the Anaheim Ducks could be available if the right package is offered to the rebuilding Ducks.
Dreger: This isn't reporting, this is wide spread speculation. I've had a couple of teams suggest Zegras could be in play.

In 19 games this year, Zegras has just 7 points, but one of those points came on a highlight reel worthy Michigan goal, and while there's certainly plenty of holes in his game that he needs to fill in order to become a superstar in the NHL, the talent is there.
On the surface, it might be a wild idea for the Ducks to make this move, but given their depth down the middle now, if they could find another key piece of the future or more draft capital for Zegras, it may be the best move to make for the organization.
