Former draft pick and long time Chicago Blackhawk Patrick Kane will make his way back to Chicago to take on his old team as a member of the Detroit Red Wings on February 25th. It also happens to be the night that Blackhawk great Chris Chelios has his retirement ceremony and jersey retired into the rafters.

Kane talked about his excitement to be there for this important event.
"It'll be fun to go back there on February 25th. Chelios' jersey going up and the first game back on the road, so it'll be a fun night."

He was asked about how he will feel returning to Chicago and if he thinks that he will be making an impact on the game.
"I have no idea. I've always played with a bit of a chip on the shoulder, so hopefully I have a little bit that night and can play a good game and help the Wings win."

"It would be fun to score a goal or have a couple of points, whatever it is. Just to play well against them."

Kane Reflects on How He had Hopes That He Would Return to Play for Chicago

When asked about if he was hoping that during the offseason he would be returning to play for Chicago, Kane says:
"Yeah, I mean, I never really knew, right? Especially after that first pick, I was like, ‘OK, maybe they'll try to bring, even like Tazer or myself back."

Kane made a more surprising comment when talking about Chicago looking for key veterans to help and surround rookie star Connor Bedard. He talked about how he remembers being a young player with a good core of veterans to help him.
"I know when I was a young guy, it really helped having some older guys around like Robert Lang, (Martin) Havlat, Yanick Perrault and Patrick Lalime, guys like that. Obviously, we had some young guys coming up that were pretty special players, and that made it pretty easy on me, too. It seemed like they wanted to go in a direction where they were going to bring in some different type of veterans. Yeah, it's what it is. Good for them. You don't think about it too much."

Despite everything, Kane's overall feeling for returning to Chicago is a positive one. He hopes to contribute as a Red Wing during the game, making it a memorable one for him and the Chicago fans.
