With just two months remain until the trade deadline, there is a lot of talk as to what teams should do to improve their chances of making the playoffs. But according to a recent story, one of the Pittsburgh Penguins' most valuable trade assets has at least one Canadian team on his no-trade list.

If you ask Penguins insiders and fans, they do not seem to be too concerned about losing Jake before this season ends. It is believed he will play out his time with Pittsburgh and hit free agency with big possibilities for a high contract.
Of course all of this can change. The Penguins may fall further down in the standings and Jake would be a good opportunity for them to get some possible prospects and picks in return for his as rental player for a contender.

Jake Guentzel contract confirms That Vancouver is one of his No-Trade Clause Teams

In 2018, Jake Guentzel signed a five-year contract worth $6 million a season, of which he is currently in the final year. Former Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford, who is currently the Vancouver Canucks' president of hockey operations, signed that contract. Paradoxically, Rick Dhaliwal reports that Vancouver is one of the teams on Guentzel's 12-team no-trade list, should the Canucks wish to pursue him if he is available.
"I'll be very surprised if the Canucks are not in on him, if, capital letters, if, the Penguins make him available. Someone also told me that the Canucks are on his no-trade list...The Canucks are on a lot of players' no-trade list because they've done nothing but lose for the last 10 years, so that's not a surprise."

Dhaliwal goes on to say that players have the final say if they want to ignore a specific team on the list, if they feel the trade is worth it for their career. According to Dhaliwal, that could be the case here, and if the option is open for Guentzel to move to Vancouver, he would be open to that. As mentioned, Guentzel has a relationship already with Jim Rutherford from his Penguins days.
"However, the price for this player if going to be very, very high."

"You gotta be careful here if you're the Canucks. Do you want to give a ton up for a rental guy?"

As of this article, the Canucks are in first place in the Western Conference with points, 2 points over the Golden Knights. If Jake is looking to make a move, a conference contender who is commonly referred to in Pittsburgh as 'Pittsburgh West', might be an option he will take.
