The Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League made a major roster decision today when they cut ties with a former NHL draft pick.

Wolves and McClennon Mutually Agree To Part Ways

The team announced on X today that they had mutually agreed to part ways with former Flyers 6th round pick Connor McClennon.
The Wolves and Connor McClennon have mutually agreed to the forward being released from his contract with the team.
McClennon was a 6th round draft pick of the Flyers back in 2020. In his last two seasons in the WHL, he recorded 171 points including 91 goals in 126 games.
This season he's played in just 9 games, 7 with the Wolves in the AHL and two at the ECHL level. Despite his tremendous scoring rate in junior hockey, he is listed at just 5'8" 163 pounds, making the transition to more physical professional hockey difficult. The talent and potential are still there, but he will need to adjust to the pro game as well as put on some weight in order to get another chance with an NHL organization.
