The whispers have been going on for a couple of weeks and now the lip readers have chimed in on the fate of Edmonton head coach Jay Woodcroft, who may have predicted his own misfortune following the club's most recent loss.

Disappointment evident in Woodcroft and Manson discussion

On Thursday night, the Oilers dropped a 3-2 tilt versus the equally dreadful Sharks, dropped the club to a 2-9-1 record.
At the conclusion of the team's fourth consecutive loss, broadcast camera's followed Woodcroft walking across the ice with assistance coach Dave Manson, with the two seeming to discuss that this loss may signal the end.
Oilers Nation columnist Zach Laing took to X, formerly Twitter, with video proof and broke down what it looked like the two may have been saying, including Woodcroft seeming to admit, "This might be it."

Woodcroft not worried about the axe

Thursday's loss marked the second four-game losing streak of the season for the Oilers, who, with five points, are the 31st team overall in the NHL.
Woodcroft, who has compiled a 132-78-41 record since becoming Edmonton's head coach, in the midst of one the team's worst starts he was asked point blank after the loss to the Sharks if he was concerned about losing his job.
"I worry about taking care of my daily business, my daily process, and making sure i give my players something to focus on and concentrate on."
