One of the projected top three players in the 2024 draft has gone down long-term with an injury hurting his draft stock.

Demidov Out Long Term

The 2024 NHL draft is widely considered to be a deep draft by fans and scouts alike but there are three players who sit atop the class: Macklin Celebrini of Boston University, Cole Eiserman of the USNTDP, and Ivan Demidov of SKA.

Demidov is the only player out of the big three who is European and he plays for the most prestigious KHL program. He is considered by some to be better than his teammate Matvei Michkov who was widely considered a top three talent in 2023 despite falling to 7th.

Today the worst news was confirmed for Demidov:

Hearing #2024NHLDraft Ivan Demidov will miss 2.5 months due to a knee injury.

Knee injuries are no joke and if Demidov wants to ensure he does not have long-term issues, he will need to treat this injury with as much caution as possible.

Luckily for Demidov, he will be able to return this season and not miss all too much time but the draft year season is crucial for development. Hopefully, he is able to return and potentially compete for the title of the top-ranked prospect in the draft.
