Marc-Andre Fleury, at 38 years old, remains a sought-after goaltender despite approaching the end of his career. Rumors suggest a top Stanley Cup contender is keen on his expertise.

Fleury's Ongoing Form

Last year, while Fleury's stats weren't the pinnacle of his career, they were certainly commendable. In his 46 appearances, he recorded a .908 save percentage and a 2.85 goals-against-average, culminating in a 24-16-4 record. Even in this preseason, he has demonstrated that his skills are intact, not to mention his ever-present sense of humor.

This season, he's anticipated to serve as Minnesota's secondary goaltender, having been overshadowed by Filip Gustavsson .

Tampa's Interest in Fleury

According to NHLTradeRumors.com, the Tampa Bay Lightning may want to bring Fleury onboard. This speculation emerged after the announcement of their star goalie, Andrei Vasilevskiy, being sidelined due to a back injury at the start of the season. With numerous goalies being connected to Tampa recently, Fleury stands out as a reliable interim solution during Vasilevskiy's recovery. While Tampa doesn't necessarily need a superstar goalie for the early season, Fleury aligns with their needs. For the Wild, trading Fleury could offer valuable future assets, especially since he doesn't factor into their long-term strategy.
