Anaheim Ducks fans need to brace themselves for some tough news. Forward prospect, Chase De Leo, known for his grit and determination, is facing an eight-week absence from the ice due to an unfortunate MCL sprain. This injury came as a result of a knee-on-knee collision with the Los Angeles Kings' Arthur Kaliyev during a recent pre-season game.

Injuries have been rampant during the 2023/2024 pre-season

The collision raised eyebrows across the hockey world, and Kaliyev was handed a two-minute penalty for kneeing. But the consequences didn't stop there – the NHL's Department of Player Safety weighed in, handing Kaliyev a suspension of two pre-season games and two regular season games for his role in the incident.
De Leo, a 27-year-old forward, had been making strides in his career. Last season, he lit up the AHL with the San Diego Gulls, notching nine goals and 23 points in just 22 games. Fans eagerly await his return as he aims to make a triumphant comeback from this setback.

This is unfortunate for De Leo, who had a strong chance to crack the starting lineup for the Ducks and will now have to fight for a place back. Kaliyev is fortunate that he will only miss two regular season games before finding his place back in the Kings' starting line-up.
