A former NHLer has been suspended for just under 10% of his season after injuring an opponent.

Lindholm Suspended And Fined For His Actions

In an SHL game, former NHLer Anton Lindholm laid a dangerous hit on an opponent after driving his shoulder through Henrik Bjorklund's head.

Lindholm was suspended 5 games for this hit which is equivalent to 8 NHL games given how the SHL season is only 52 games. He was also fined over $7,000 USD.

Lindholm played 66 NHL games, all with the Avalanche, but eventually left to play in Sweden.

"The hit involves a great risk of injury and is disrespectful."

"The tackled player cannot in any significant way be considered to have contributed to the tackle hitting the head."
