Over the summer there was rumors of a trade between the St. Louis Blues and the Philadelphia Flyers that was shut down by a player.

Krug Confirms He Denied Trade

Torey Krug was rumored to be traded to the Philadelphia Flyers but he denied it and cause the whole trade to be washed away.

Krug spoke to the media on the rumors of the trade today, and this is what he said:

"Obviously I chose to stay here (St. Louis). I want to be part of this room and love playing in this city and wearing the Blue Note so it's something I'm very excited about. You don't like hearing things like that. I have kids, I have a family. But I want to be here and wear the Note. I'm here to play hockey. I signed up to be in St. Louis for 7 years and that's what I want to do. When you hear stuff like that, there's more that goes into it than what's on the surfaceat the end of the day, I want to be here.»

Krug's statement shows how committed he is to be a Blues hockey player. The fact he denied the trade to the Flyers, shows how much he wants to stay with the team.

Krug also reinstated his commitment to continue playing and working towards getting better.

" I've seen everything in hockey, just about everything you can think of. If you know anything about me, or my history, you know I'm going to show up and go to work everyday. I think my teammates understand that and expect that.»

The Shot Down Trade, Between The Flyers and Blues

The reported trade that got shot down was a very large trade that would have shaken up both organizations.

The trade looked something like this:

BLUES Receive: D Travis Sanheim and F Kevin Hayes
FLYERS Receive: D Torey Krug

However when Krug shut down the trade the Flyers dealt Hayes to the Blues for 2024 6th round pick.

Krug has four more years with an average AAV of $6.25 million, with a full no trade clause for the next two seasons then a modified no trade clause for the final two years.
